Case Study
44 yrs old patient had chronic back pain for 11 years. Only small disc bulge on MRI. Able to train / run but in her words ‘taking over her life’. Manual physio and opioids had been ineffective for years. During a session of acupuncture patient discussed her childhood and had that it had been neglectful. It was the first time she has discussed this and was quite emotional.
The following week her pain had ‘totally eased’. The combination of acupuncture and release of emotion was reported to have eased her pain. Her pain had focussed in the lower back as this are in her body was under most strain from overtraining and running to stave away emotional turmoil.
